While studying for a bachelor degree in Communication Arts from Georgia Southern University Anna got involved with and worked for the university’s recreation department and consequently continued to pursue a master degree in Exercise Physiology, teaching undergraduate physical education classes as a graduate assistant. After graduating she moved to Sarasota, FL, and worked as an assistant fitness director at the Flanzer Jewish Community Center and spent two years as fitness director at the Colony Beach and Tennis Resort on Longboat Key, FL. In 2001 she decided to focus on working with clients one on one and subsequently opened “Anna’s Pilates and Fitness Studio” in Sarasota. She has had the pleasure to work with people as a personal trainer, yoga instructor and pilates instructor, constantly searching for the best way to help clients live the most active and enjoyable life possible.
“What I found in working with people is that, no matter their age or physical ability, most people are in some kind of pain. And this pain limits their life…not just the physical activities they can engage in, but the degree to which they can lead an active life style. So I wanted to find a way to remedy this, so that my clients could be without pain and get on with the business of living more active lives. You are not going to walk or run much if your knees always bother you and you are not likely to play ball with your kids all afternoon if your back is always sore.”
Motivated also by a mild case of scoliosis since adulthood, she found the Egoscue Method of Postural Alignment and Anna now works with clients to improve their postural alignment in an attempt to give them back the mobility and joy of movement they may have felt as children. She is an Egoscue© certified Postural Alignment Specialist.
